Prepare yourself for spray tanning!

The day before your Sunless Tanning  Session:

Correct preparation will enhance the look and extend the life of your sunless tan. Hydrated skin gives a richer, deeper tan and many clients begin drinking water and moisturising a couple of days before their sunless tanning session. You should shave, wax, dye hair and do any tinting at least 24 hours prior to your tanning session.

Dry areas absorb the solution quicker, leading to a darker area on the skin, therefore it is recommended that you exfoliate and thoroughly moisturise these areas the day before. Pay particular attention to your feet, hands, knees, ankles and elbows.

Following these pre-application tips will allow the tanning liquid to be absorbed more evenly and will make your tan last longer.

It's important to remember that most sunless-tanning products will not protect you from the sun's UVA and UVB rays, so if you're planning to head outside to show off your new glow, be sure to apply some sunscreen.

What to Wear to your Spray Tanning Session:
Some clients feel nervous getting undressed for their tanning session but please remember it is entirely up to you how much of your skin you wish to tan. Many clients prefer to wear only a g-string/briefs and no bra as the straps will leave a white mark.

Other clients prefer a bathing costume or underwear set – you should wear whatever makes you feel comfortable. However everybody agrees that it is not advisable to wear your best underwear to a tanning session as some fabrics will stain from the colour guide.

We supply at no charge disposable g-strings and hair covers if required.

On the day of your Spray Tanning Session:

As is the case for all beauty treatments the skin should be generally healthy and clean, and broken or irritated skin should be covered. You may also want to cover any recent piercings with a plaster to prevent irritation.

Do not shave, wax, moisturise, exfoliate, wear perfume, deodorant or make-up on the day of your Sunless Tanning session, as these can irritate the skin or can act as a barrier to tanning lotions.

Loose dark clothing is ideal so you should dress down. Wearing loose clothing and footwear after your tanning session will reduce the risk of clothes rubbing away the colour guide before the tan has had time to fully develop.

How long will my tan last?

This depends on your skin type and after tan care. Typically a tan will last 7-10 days. After the initial 2 applications you will have the equivalent of a tan that could take up to 8 or more sessions in a tanning studio.

What does the tan look like?

The initial tan, which is instant, is a deep, dark brown. The instant colour is from the bronzer, and will wash off with your first bath or shower. The long term tan, which peaks after 5 hours and continues to develop up to 24 hours, is a golden-brown colour.

Will I turn orange or streak?
The tanning solutions were developed with the perfect tan in mind, with botanical extracts designed to nourish the skin and DHA that reacts with the amino acids and proteins in the in the outer layer of the skin to produce a natural long lasting golden bronze tan.

How long does it take?
The misting lasts for a few minutes. Most customers are in and out in 15 minutes, with most time spent putting their clothes on and off.

Is it expensive to have a Spray Tan?
No, spraytanning is less expensive than a course of tanning sessions at the solarium and offers instant results and FREE of any harmful UV rays.

Health and Safety - Sunless Tanning

Please supply us with as much information as possible about any medical conditions you have which could affect your Sunless Tanning application when making your appointment.

As with any Beauty Treatment you should be generally fit and well, as some people may be overcome with even a small amount of tanning liquid present in the air around them. A small percentage of people are allergic to the active ingredient in sunless tanning lotions. If you have had a previous reaction to any sunless tan (fake tan) please let us know immediately so we can advise you further.

As a general rule, spray tanning should be avoided if you are pregnant or have any breathing problems (such as asthma) as even a small amount of lotion in the surrounding air may cause you to feel unwell. If you suffer from mild asthma it is advisable that you wear a face mask during a spray tanning application and bring your inhaler with you. A Cream Tan may be a more suitable choice if you are pregnant or have any breathing conditions.
