Tan Prep & After Care
Before your tan
Shower: Recommended with a natural, non moisturising soap or body wash.Exfoliate: This process will remove dead cells from the skin’s surface to help in the renewal process.
We suggest a product that is designed specifically for sunless tanning. Clean and balanced skin tones tan best. Shaving/Waxing: Any regular waxing or shaving should be done at least 24 hours in advance. Cosmetics: To ensure optimal colour, please AVOID the following:
Makeup, perfume, cologne, lotions & deodorants.
Clothing: Please arrive in dark, loose fitting clothing.
Wear open toe shoes when weather permits. If the weather is inclement, wear long sleeves, pants, socks, shoes and bring an umbrella.
After your tan
First Shower:
The first shower should be done using a quick rinse with lukewarm water only to remove any excess solution. Avoid exercising or any activity that may cause sweating prior to your first shower.Second Shower: Shower should be taken on the following day using a sulphate free product. Drying: After your shower, gently pat dry or air dry. DO NOT exfoliate or rub your skin with a towel.Moisturise: Moisturising is a vital step in extending the life of your Sunless Booth Tan.
DO NOT use lotions containing mineral oil or fragrances.Shaving: Any shaving should be done with at least a three-blade razor is a downward motion. All shaving creams and gels should be replaced with an extremely light and natural non-alcohol based substitute.Skin Care: No toners, astringents, salicylic acid, benzyl peroxide or sulfate products should be used.Perfumes: May be applied to either clothing or hair. Do not spray directly on your skin.Avoid Chlorine: Swimming pools, and hot tubs can remove the colour and shorten the life of your Sunless Booth Tan.Water: Drink lots of water. The more hydrated you are, the longer your tan will last.
Frequently asked questions
How should I prepare for my session?
Exfoliate and shave the day before or the day of your Spray Tanning Session. (The day before is preferred). The day of your Spray Tanning Session, refrain from using moisturisers, perfumes, lotions, oils or deodorants that may create a barrier between your skin and the Sunless Tanning Solution. (You may resume using these after your first shower or bath).
How long should I wait until after my session before showering?
To give the DHA enough time to fully set, we recommend waiting a minimum of 2-8 hours after an Automated Spray Tanning Booth session before your first shower. Your tan will continue to develop over the next 8-12 hours.
2Hrs - Natural, 4 Hrs - Medium/Dark, 6-8 Hrs - Dark
We recommend a 2-8 hour rinse off time if you have chosen the express tanning option.
2Hrs - Natural, 3Hrs - Medium, 8 Hrs - Dark
Will swimming affect my new tan?
Swimming in chlorinated water or salt water can fade your results, cause possible streaking and will diminish the length of your tan. However, normal activities such as bathing, showering or physical activities will not affect the quality of the tan.
How long will my spray tan last?
The length of your sunless tan depends on a few factors, such as how well post spray-tanning instructions are followed. Generally, spray tans last approximately 5-7 days. These times are based off of showering once daily, however if you are more active and shower frequently this may significantly reduce the overall longevity of your spray tan.
Tips & Tricks
Perfect Hands/Feet
Be sure to apply a liberal amount of barrier cream to your hands and palms and the tops of your feet before your session.
Also we recommend rinsing your hands, face, feet 30 mins after application to avoid over saturation.
Don't want your face tanned?
Easy... grab one of our disposable hair nets and place it over your face during the spray tan session.
If you forget there is wipes in the room to wipe your face after your spray tan.
Missed a spot?
We provide complimentary touch up mousses and blending brushes in the room for you to apply tan to any areas you feel or can see you have missed by not standing correctly.
